Volunteering

There are lots of different ways of volunteering with the BFG. We are a friendly group and interested in learning together and sharing experience. You don't need to have any knowledge, experience or skills.

As a group member, you can come along to monthly get togethers and work in the garden - a diverse range of jobs always need doing, for example: weeding, planting, propagating, pruning, composting, strimming, mulching etc. If you enjoy this, you can come along and work in the garden more frequently.

There are always many other ways of getting involved - such as compiling a newsletter, helping with health and safety requirements, making publicity materials, distributing posters and flyers, writing articles etc.

Another way that you can get involved is to becjome a company director. This would require you to come to a Directors' meeting four times a year which lasts approximately 3 hours. The purpose of these meetings is to decide on strategic direction and deetermine how we should approach our goals. You may take on a few tasks at these meetings to undertake between meetings. There is a high degree of flexibility to take into account your skills and interests and the amount of time that you can commit.

Volunteering days

BFG volunteers get together on the second Sunday of each month from around 11.30am onwards.

See the calendar for details of events.
