About the Bangor Forest Garden Project
We are a small community voluntary organisation and a not for profit co-operative company.
The project was started in January 1998 as an informal group, which later became a constituted group. On 2nd November 2005 we became incorporated in order to formalise our activities (company number 5610343 - articles of incorporation are available to members on request).
Our aims are to promote forest gardening as a sustainable lifestyle solution in the North West Wales region. To do this, we are creating a demonstration forest garden at Henfaes, the research farm of the University of Wales, Bangor. At ten years old, this is among the most mature forest gardens in the UK. Group members learn about forest gardening from each other and share experience.
Membership of the BFG is open to all and we welcome new volunteers.
We have experience of working with socially excluded groups and see the forest garden as an opportunity to make a positive contribution to the local community.
